San Jacinto Texas Historic District Corridor Standards
The San Jacinto Texas Historic District Corridor Standards is a project of the Economic Alliance Houston Port Region’s Quality of Life Task Force, whose regional survey listed standards and beautification as a primary goal for the District. The project Technical Advisory Committee and the eighteen project stakeholders guided the project through a yearlong process, which included a number of meetings and open houses to review the ideas presented and solicit input. These standards are intended to provide recommendations to maximize the value, performance, and aesthetic quality of capital and long-term operational expenditures for the public realm throughout the District. It includes example scenarios where improvements may be made, elements and furnishings that evoke the history and culture of the District, and practices for design and implementation of improvements along the right-of-way. Public and private landowners are encouraged to refer to the recommendations of this document as a starting point for planning and designing improvement projects in collaboration with relevant partners, agencies, and organizations.
