State Rail Corridor: Oklahoma to South Texas
As a subconsultant to HNTB Corporation, Knudson was engaged to assist with the data and compile the information into GIS shapefiles and provide conceptual GIS map exhibits of the study area. Data collected consisted of aerial imagery, topographic data, existing infrastructure exhibits showing the roadway centerlines, edge of payment and median boundaries, vertical profiles and grades and right of way boundaries. Roadway geometric data was provided by TxDOT. The purpose of the analysis was to inventory and analyze the existing roadway and rail networks within the study area for future implementation of passenger rail. The study area for this analysis included routes along the existing roadway and rail networks between Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and South Texas, passing through the Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) Metroplex, Austin, San Antonio and extending into South Texas. The roadway network of the study area will consist of the I-35 corridor from Oklahoma City to Laredo, the I-37 and US 181 corridors from San Antonio to Corpus Christi, US 59 between I-37 and Laredo, US 281 between I-37 and McAllen, US 77 between I-37 and Brownsville, and US 83 between McAllen and Harlingen.
