Houston Airport System – George Bush Intercontinental Airport 2010 Peak Week Survey

Knudson provided observer coverage for airport operations in George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) for production of the Peak Week Survey. The 2010 Peak Week Survey was the first ever conducted at Intercontinental Airport. The observation took place over a three week period and required Knudson to employ over 120 college students from the University of Houston, Rice, TSU and Houston Community College. The assignment schedule was very specific to peak travel time, included morning/day and evening/night shifts from 3:00 am – 12:00 am, and required everyone scheduled to show up on time. Knudson’s internal project team divided the assignment into 2 shifts, day and night, assigning a Project Manager for each. A Zero Tolerance for Late Arrival Policy initiated for staff that showed up on the job late. Students were required to sign the policy upon their acceptance at the time of employment. Observers conducted surveys documenting capacity and demand during AM/PM peak hours for kiosks, ticket counters, curbside check-in, elevators, TSA checkpoints, ITT and TerminalLink Trains for terminals A, B, C, D and E.
