City of South Houston Gateway
In 2010, the City of South Houston was the recipient of a beautification grant from the Houston-Galveston Area Council and the Economic Alliance – Houston Port Region. This grant was for the construction of a gateway that would identify South Houston as a member city of the San Jacinto Historic District.
The project included the design of a gateway that can be prominently viewed from Highway 3. The gateway features cast stone and brick masonry construction with a two lighted stars perched on metallic uprights. Also included is a large artwork panel depicting the march of the Texian Army toward San Jacinto.
In addition to design and construction document production, Knudson also served as project manager during the construction phase of the project.
