City of Baytown Gateways
In 2009, the City of Baytown was the recipient of a beautification grant from the Houston-Galveston Area Council and the Economic Alliance – Houston Port Region. This grant was for the construction of a gateway that would identify Baytown as a member city of the San Jacinto Historic District. The City also elected to contribute additional funds toward a project that would not only serve as a gateway to the City, but also as an economic development project.
Knudson led a project team of engineers and contractors to design and construct the gateway. The project included the design of a 45’ gateway tower and a perimeter wall which can predominately viewed from I-10.
In addition to design and construction document production, Knudson also served as project manager during the construction phase of the project.
The response to the first Gateway was so successful, that a second project was planned, designed and installed along SH 146 in 2015.
